Pack one room in an hour
Category-based packing beats random packing every time. Here's the order that works.
Stop packing room by room at random. Pack by category instead.
Most people open a drawer, pack whatever is in it, then spend twenty minutes deciding where the next thing goes.
Flip it. Pick a category, sweep the whole room for it, fill a bin, close the lid, move on.
Rigid bins make this easy — same size every time, so you can predict what fits before you start.
- Books and heavy items first, no more than half a bin
- Kitchen and fragile items wrapped, packed upright, not stacked flat
- Linens and soft goods last — they fill the gaps and cushion everything
- One category per bin so unpacking matches how you'll put things away
- Label the short side, not the lid, so you can read the stack
No tape, no assembly, no box-building. Lid down and it's done.
